• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract( if you like the flavor)* p) b0 L4 N1 a3 K2 D
• 1 1/2 cups sifted flour ( if you don’t like the trouble, use all-purpose flour)

3 o) o$ O. t1 J$ E• 4 eggs, well beaten

* K! P; A' |6 c& T( g. U8 M: bBeat butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients; add to cream mixture alternately with beaten eggs, beating well after each addition. 8 c4 t; x7 y% q* J3 v
Turn into greased and floured 8-inch tube pan or 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
" Q/ r/ n9 h2 t2 D" \' wBake in a preheated 350° oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes in the pan then turn out onto a cake rack. Cool and glaze or frost as desired. Store tightly covered.

I normally strictly follow the amount for each ingredient the recipe calls for, except SUGAR( I prefer to cut it to ¾ or 2/3 of the recipe. It is too sweet for some Chinese. But if you like the sweetness of the Cake Mix you got from super market, you can follow the recipe.: b, u, {' y, s6 Q

For beating, you can buy a simple Hand Mixer for about $10. It can not only be used for making cakes but also bread, or mashed potatoes(土豆泥)ect. |
