• 1 cup sugar

7 V$ A* e! L4 e/ A, z9 _Beat butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients; add to cream mixture alternately with beaten eggs, beating well after each addition.
7 b, Q. k' ^7 MTurn into greased and floured 8-inch tube pan or 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. 7 [/ W" c" C: C& k* n# w0 B0 Y! L
Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes in the pan then turn out onto a cake rack. Cool and glaze or frost as desired. Store tightly covered., F o7 e Y2 V8 Z" k

I normally strictly follow the amount for each ingredient the recipe calls for, except SUGAR( I prefer to cut it to ¾ or 2/3 of the recipe. It is too sweet for some Chinese. But if you like the sweetness of the Cake Mix you got from super market, you can follow the recipe.% D7 W, T. E* A

For beating, you can buy a simple Hand Mixer for about $10. It can not only be used for making cakes but also bread, or mashed potatoes(土豆泥)ect. |
