Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
: b" S, ^: F4 p% V- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
# F" l( w' D w" W2 i4 W- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services

- coordinate good will activities0 }3 J4 I" ]* C0 F
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members; @1 m* G( Q9 E4 h
- submit information for community news

: C( d. F6 W5 g# _8 [& d$ J- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.. B2 n' \+ _: }' k

- update ASSIST website' |9 h3 ?: }+ e4 y; k8 V
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP" j2 ~4 J' w9 u2 K! L: x" c+ N
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP6 F6 C1 M$ m* g
- explore new ideas for ISP ( [5 w9 _- H% \1 l/ z6 e
- hold regular meetings with ISP team0 D+ `1 n6 F3 B4 g5 ?1 D7 p# ^
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications% `8 w/ h1 x# {7 b1 v1 [7 c
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
0 p/ a2 a0 R9 w1 p6 A/ L% F1 S9 A' B- good oral and written Chinese and English skills1 `2 K9 w8 F$ K: ]5 C* M4 b
- experience in community work and immigrant services! b9 u' h( D: k4 x) p5 r( W
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars5 J! D6 e. J3 N0 Z0 C1 ]6 z
- leadership skills
