7 K; K/ E: P! {' |1 h9 ^Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:
5 d9 V$ V& k5 Y; G- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community4 M0 p) `4 L8 Y, N
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
' C& x3 P, K; N- c& Z- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
g$ r3 G% A h1 H: ]) @- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies; k# v8 f# Q- j ]8 ?6 R
- coordinate good will activities
3 R/ p- m: e- t9 Y0 G' I+ N8 B- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
5 P0 y2 ~- B b# T. D- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc." D2 K! D& ?4 W- y- B( g2 r
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities4 |) x# c% ?5 g: f
- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- hold regular meetings with ISP team( X/ l$ g c: U. |5 t. i
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required): t, f) K: P1 S0 C
V( w' ?) B. Y2 k6 ], TQualifications6 q9 b; q7 {; `( F J
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
/ s4 m6 i0 Q1 [- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
* V. q2 X# ]2 `5 g- experience in community work and immigrant services
; R5 A2 D( S9 O+ b0 S1 K- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
