Job Description

•        reports directly to the Board of Directors( t8 r+ H/ d% C6 J
•        is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the agency’s vision mission and goals* n+ L7 S4 h2 w  M# i& a
•        is fiscally accountable to the Board with all projects and administration of the agency within an approved budget by the Board
( h) M- U5 n3 |/ O  i•        assist the Board in fund development planning and implementation9 f" |& G3 k$ z6 y4 \/ x

•        is accountable for effective administration of agency
. X3 _# e% Q7 Q" E4 K•        is accountable to meet community expectations and funders’ requirements
7 B; R' K0 K& a2 u0 M* n•        develop/review and administer operational policies and procedures

•        develop, implement and manage operational and programming budgets

6 ]8 T0 x! l  M, H8 D3 `" d•        responsible for recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal and termination of staff
  G& W7 P4 x. C. V/ O" ^•        provide leadership to staff and volunteers6 t; y* E/ T3 u9 m  n
•        provide day to day leadership to support staff in programming functions$ v( [6 b& m7 X2 ~1 V
•        monitor progress of agency service providers and coordinators
: H' f9 Z9 _7 b* X•        provide opportunities for staff development and growth2 a' q7 T& i! O) }2 S
•        meet with staff on regular basis+ x3 ?! u# u" c3 X& B/ R4 r
•        build and maintain collegial and strong working relationships with staff( `* _+ y; |. j4 c2 J: k& q

3 B9 A! _7 D) k/ FPrograms/Services
; k! C9 J, e4 J+ E/ Z4 }; b•        overall management of all agency projects/programs and services
# P' J: Z  P3 w! r•        design, develop and monitor client-centred programs and activities
# r0 O6 Z1 f& ~$ H, L0 |•        prepare, complete and submit all program proposals including budgets and reports to the funders and key stakeholders: B. E2 K' d/ p/ R( ]. x7 U
•        set program priorities and directions
; l/ k  |7 Z; t4 w: ]•        identify community and user needs and trends9 C7 ?8 j1 @# B) D1 T9 G, f+ k. m- b
•        implement and monitor programs and community activities to meet identified needs and trends
; v3 j- c& E- I: Z1 [% ^•        conduct program evaluation/survey/research
% q# n, J3 Q* J% l- t9 ~0 ^( C. r# j•        maintenance of appropriate reporting) L# c7 k* [) s
•        delivery of program or activity to participants as required* N/ b! ^$ ^. j" D4 M& q* Y
•        build on knowledge of community resources in program development
. B  n8 n( A: H. F•        ensure programs serve to enhance the coping capacities and well-being of people by removing inhumane systems or barriers and to empower people to work on positive changes in themselves and in others
) f; _8 ^9 x6 S, n$ H1 W$ C
. e3 b) W8 L, u! BExternal Relations
  n/ D9 P; l  }•        act as community liaison and cultural broker between the immigrant community and other communities/ g; O# g# d% L& ]2 c
•        build, maintain strong relationships with all levels of governments, businesses, community groups, public  & funders
7 q, B' n* `, L% ]$ [•        communicate the value of the organization to the public
! d* Z2 e5 v3 v. d0 L# Q  v•        identify community needs and trends
* B) ]6 d4 X- @# B& R•        coordinate and monitor significant programs through liaison/partnership with other community groups
, N2 J, E- O& V2 @. g•        advocate, educate, promote cross-cultural respect & understanding of immigrants, visible minorities & other at risk or multi-risks groups& n/ z  @% g+ V' q
•        work with community and social agencies/groups to raise awareness of systemic issues affecting people from a broad socio-economic spectrum to social policy makers and to lobby for social changes in society, legislation and systems.
# R" B: Y' S: K) |$ S# p- B# e4 O•        Identify funding opportunities and resources that enhance the agency programs/services and staff& F( d! o; D/ b

% n* [% N' Z7 Y2 mQualifications- E0 C7 I' O- G9 H- |4 U& t5 J) o
-        University degree in a related field;
7 j8 e0 }1 y, \* V-        Knowledge of leadership and management principles as relate to nonprofit / voluntary organization;
; E; G+ x; j- g' p8 g2 J3 q-        Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management, fund development and organizational management;
* f1 v8 M6 N( @& u% T( q-        2 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization
8 q& z; F" m3 v; j, n1 v" C5 S" c& O, t8 d
Salary  A+ o4 O+ B) m+ q1 ~% |
-        $50,000 - $55,000 + benefits
