Job Description

( H8 p" P# C( I% x•        is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the agency’s vision mission and goals
$ L+ U0 f  J" ?0 i3 ^9 L5 W- o•        is fiscally accountable to the Board with all projects and administration of the agency within an approved budget by the Board

•        is accountable to meet community expectations and funders’ requirements " x* S! Z4 ]% n: Q
•        develop/review and administer operational policies and procedures3 B9 r7 S. L" {7 X
•        development and management of the programs budget

•        responsible for recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal and termination of staff
# I; L  w  i) [0 Z1 h•        provide leadership to staff and volunteers( S9 \. G$ h9 \0 F/ U/ X- v
•        provide day to day leadership to support staff in programming functions
! N. t6 |& P$ f) Y/ l: l1 d7 P1 R•        monitor progress of agency service providers and coordinators% `* |' [, B. S$ V* @/ k
•        provide opportunities for staff development and growth& ^+ j: y$ |$ d& x' W( P7 b
•        meet with staff on regular basis) Z9 F9 G! [* y6 L! R; ^
•        build and maintain collegial and strong working relationships with staff1 M$ }" }5 V" H0 H0 @

/ H1 O8 \$ I( L, d% T•        overall management of all agency projects/programs and services
5 F( N- L( T5 `& X/ ?•        design, develop and monitor client-centred programs and activities: @8 S, o/ o0 K- ~1 P) E. g3 V5 Y
•        prepare, complete and submit all program proposals including budgets and reports to the funders and key stakeholders
) @- z9 W( |7 K( u; [•        set program priorities and directions $ v8 \3 O1 k/ d, ?* X
•        identify community and user needs and trends/ i" j  i1 d" L5 J5 E3 S9 S4 G
•        implement and monitor programs and community activities to meet identified needs and trends) B  B8 s3 G& Y8 i( n8 E- \# k* ^% H+ y
•        conduct program evaluation/survey/research: N2 s$ J/ R4 X: q9 [
•        maintenance of appropriate reporting
3 z1 e/ r9 [* b- [; D2 Z- y2 @; M) Q•        delivery of program or activity to participants as required3 r8 ]- d. O5 K7 Y' i- r
•        build on knowledge of community resources in program development
" B  v! _) R, t) u1 a. {•        ensure programs serve to enhance the coping capacities and well-being of people by removing inhumane systems or barriers and to empower people to work on positive changes in themselves and in others) D# n. u6 m& V) R& q

External Relations4 m% n+ y# o, O9 ~& x8 B$ x
•        act as community liaison and cultural broker between the immigrant community and other communities
  G: J& F8 }; y& h* x6 m; E* a2 C* y•        build, maintain strong relationships with all levels of governments, businesses, community groups, public  & funders6 G4 ?3 @: K' I3 m! B& s& Y- B
•        communicate the value of the organization to the public: R+ B: c* m- w  ~: v9 V; A# p
•        identify community needs and trends/ c: P# }! U# R7 H/ [1 T8 u
•        coordinate and monitor significant programs through liaison/partnership with other community groups4 f: A2 t( |! l- Z# M
•        advocate, educate, promote cross-cultural respect & understanding of immigrants, visible minorities & other at risk or multi-risks groups  j7 n$ [! a! H
•        work with community and social agencies/groups to raise awareness of systemic issues affecting people from a broad socio-economic spectrum to social policy makers and to lobby for social changes in society, legislation and systems." v: i7 x) ~; K  S. K& V, X* U; b
•        Identify funding opportunities and resources that enhance the agency programs/services and staff

$ s. U& \& ]# p+ {2 }% {$ A5 ^8 W/ T% W0 QQualifications
$ @  J0 s; N0 j% N, U* _' o0 ]-        University degree in a related field; 8 A, _6 K5 t; X& m
-        Knowledge of leadership and management principles as relate to nonprofit / voluntary organization;
% Z7 i0 }- C! Y9 r) |# J) ]-        Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management, fund development and organizational management;
* K& x' |! c; P& ^' ~; l-        2 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization

! T/ S+ \+ ?+ K% g( W& W3 V1 O0 `5 FSalary2 `& D: l. W# `7 I3 O6 K
-        $50,000 - $55,000 + benefits ; M. i" s/ O8 y- v7 d& |- }2 M
