The duties of the Operations Manager - SU Venues are diverse and

financial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as
* O( P" c9 c$ \6 hthe logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional

breadth and complexity, it is not possible to fully define or

safety regulations and building policies.

2. Marketing and Promotion5 y# F2 {* J" }" } h
- \# m; T/ l' Z5 [9 @: ta. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that
r7 K# G: U1 [% ?, [focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, ' C1 q1 a. h$ \+ w, E
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
5 Y( d$ u# b; @3 A- o* P/ FThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
5 J0 J' H, ~) T- E v" V+ C9 S" v- h· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz 0 o* B/ U% x8 `2 t* `' t
Theatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
9 M7 A" n6 c; H7 z) D1 x) O' s4 Ktake advantage of other internal and external advertising
( H/ K4 t% c5 _" _/ zopportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional
2 g2 H9 T# N5 _- r9 d, X" Wliterature on an ongoing basis.
! O5 _$ S5 Y2 I6 d, f, u! b· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.

use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.4 u+ X3 b! k I3 ]& x3 h1 R" y9 ~, X
· To develop new external clients for the venues.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities: F, f* Q1 [6 o/ P3 a$ _4 H

a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost- ) l% O, J# |) g! T9 O1 }
effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
4 S/ N) }% ]' ?# c3 [" b1 [3 vvenues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
, A. D/ G4 {+ Y# o- T' mcontribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of ; Y+ Q; T- h/ [$ k
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited 8 o* m' o" h! l" L% I

· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
f, n! u D2 |. G1 r& hand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, . G$ W3 x' l" L9 P1 r1 V3 x8 b
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.
3 m n3 ]/ c5 i0 Z; B4 }- b To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
9 [% {% i. r6 f; h% Fall times, this includes the development and implementation of such ) o! U9 d. `: i- b4 {% T& \
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
! T1 g3 n; O( d/ Z4 `7 m: @cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
& e& s7 d# V, O! |0 F( Mis in operation or needs to be in operation.# b2 ^3 \% p' h7 ~; Q% ^9 V' V' Z
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure ' J9 g9 |, R1 Z6 T4 e
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to
% t$ `, I: W7 O2 s6 {: {facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all 3 G) j g) v* G8 c( C$ p5 W
renters needs are met.
" I+ _- J' C! A* o- B+ k7 c· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
7 s' n% B+ S2 z# u0 ^& f5 h9 K- |and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of
0 B4 I1 a. u' y* ?9 h( l: p: @the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and
( w+ g n! W& r- teffective training (and re-training) in all applicable and 9 D3 n j9 i$ e+ B5 Y
appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual
$ A) B. f j& _- U" Fis kep up-to-date at all times.
6 w+ S& K; v+ `7 k0 e· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing : @# h* S3 b% c) G
excellent customer service to all renters.
! `4 n( j9 S. M2 m$ j· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff 8 z6 W) `: k# V) V& ]
scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance
0 N5 n7 o" c: Q. [( }and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning
0 f" Z- u K7 n( Z7 _' Ithe staff of the venues.
4 l* X1 J. x* X5 a4 _· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure
5 ^, W' `. L1 B6 E7 Qthe appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.1 w' r: q \" R
· Working with the Manager of Programming and Venues to ensure

4. Overall Financial Performance. I# H# G+ K g( s5 \- Y) @4 L l

a. To ensure, at all times, that the Financial and Administrative + B5 K" r0 y+ T9 X
systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the
' C! c8 d6 `8 ^8 x5 [) Nappropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contribute in a
5 i0 E! R1 n) s8 e, Z+ q7 jpositive way to the smooth operation and success of the venues. This 0 z1 B; B) {; [6 ~
includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:
) i3 v: f7 A/ l ] To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate
3 u1 z- Z% t3 M! R) c" t* y- J: voperating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
0 k5 y0 X( f$ h+ x: L* F7 N1 p" JProgramming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets
/ H5 x/ K: B+ E0 ~: FManager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance & # L- r, g) T c+ H- g3 `' e
Administration prior to their submission for final approval.- N$ I) ^2 F4 A! U
· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively

administrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the

aimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of 9 H! R6 \! O! b3 q

· To ensure the existence of adequate, effective and accurate job
2 S8 U) f0 N2 w/ _costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and
/ d% i8 f$ F0 p8 @setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for
" E R0 A& O: @: Z* R! Wevents held in the Horowitz Theatre.. U. O6 `1 c$ i: |; ]& Q1 \9 e9 e
· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with 0 O" [. X/ L* Q# y# i
the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely
) D! h; B9 w% B& Y8 U0 R* I& Smanner to the Accounting Department.
7 `4 V- [* |2 Z( ]& n( A5 O· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial ; ?% N& L% P% U
and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects 2 x0 K& K/ o8 {9 d2 D0 ~
the requirements of the SU´s Manager of Programming and Venues and
3 u9 p" ?5 r+ B3 rManager of Finance and Administration, and in a manner which
" `! t4 q9 n1 r7 S* W' `contributes positively to the smooth operation and success of the

a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in 6 t) a, ~7 Q2 x1 p. ]: k
renting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and
) W2 a: q* q; `9 v$ w1 _' a* sneeds, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the 9 u( ~: }1 S P; ]: c+ h1 m
venues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as / z# M# y0 n5 \' O( h5 e# O0 t
may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this

, p6 e5 w2 }3 o) M" m6 V" `& G# Fin the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,
! X D. }8 R% Z' y2 N- U0 opricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing,
8 A" D% N9 _1 I1 |, etogether with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary O$ Y. f3 Z! s& d$ C
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and ( N/ |" Z1 B8 h# u9 J
functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.
4 U7 }7 L8 \( r3 f· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures
( u! o$ Q$ \4 r* B2 B' P* Fas may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-
1 K6 w* G `2 w% x- A$ G2 J5 D3 Heffective operation of the venues.0 K' g! l0 C1 l: D7 s& d
· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to
# F. ^) x4 F% y3 g1 ]dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
) `4 G' Z& Z' q0 n· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and
7 t p/ u5 L- M) mthat such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.
$ _" K/ t/ X5 d· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their 1 n+ H C! V1 X- G1 x# t( Z8 l2 P& C
particular event in the venues.
* W3 O; ~7 ^% e# x' T· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and $ [' s) P, B+ t U" v% k
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the
& ~, H y3 u$ Z4 Droles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event., o% ], f. q# h
· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular 4 c3 \: n$ X Q9 ^3 Y5 V a6 U
rental with consultation with the Technical Director.* P4 B0 K- H# d6 I( |0 L" s( h* y3 P
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the & h2 r3 U. H5 m' k
SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately
+ n7 o* Y7 [1 b0 q1 o! Lanswered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in h5 S7 e! d4 ]* V' W; J
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
7 h9 o% |& {; n; i% c' k" D3 G To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, $ E, u* [- y' N# z6 H
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
% j" Z. z4 y f% J( w# m! `the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision
/ b* j+ S" ?' ~# g7 x2 x) t9 g8 Pmade for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of 9 I" v) x: z" {' ^, C
Programming and Venues.
2 a" G; s0 d! x" x+ B. _' e+ h· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of / V& J4 r$ @) {1 x. z2 i% G
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of $ S- @/ z5 O: O* B: `2 C+ y* g
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as 5 `9 i2 G/ a0 z: y- s4 V) x1 R. o
may provide such challenges and/or problems.
7 U! ~+ O1 f" F3 y1 t1 u· To attend such meetings as may be required to support the smooth " O: o9 P4 m! P* N7 x0 w

· To perform other job-related duties as may be required by the
