Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.. ^9 U3 N6 [5 |) x* G' P

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.4 F" J8 b0 N+ i: [' m" q* m
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.- H' c+ f: i O1 q1 B
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information., d: {' H' c- k8 a
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability # I) \$ y0 [+ V0 P: s. {

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).

• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.+ M) m+ F A, [) X
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
6 W: M* d4 }) Jshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
! \* F' O4 u1 U9 C" E1 k• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
+ i+ D" V/ q4 S. w- |6 pvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

HOURS OF WORK:

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
