Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.' ]* b6 H D& ]* _: ?' \2 v& S$ F

FUNCTIONS:
5 l2 L' ?) T% y& ~3 k0 m• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 3 t+ d( Y3 f) D8 M* g+ K

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. 1 W( U' `. j. _6 h) _( e! I& n' G
• Ensure the safety of all passengers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:# K7 _% Z( l+ D8 n! z, P- P
• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).2 t8 _" _% @0 _: O
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.9 W* i1 j9 Y" a. h( O
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
. w+ l" X# O2 }$ o• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
0 f5 Y' p8 n5 N& M) N" ?6 E1 Nshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
