The University of Alberta - Centre for International Business Studies is
currently recruiting for the position of Summer Program Assistant - Job

4 f( G5 m5 V5 w7 t6 i! rSalary to be paid will be $14.00 per hour (includes vacation pay, stat
pay, student premium, and second language augmentation)

6 T# t+ ?! |; K* N. p  sHours per week will be 20 - 30 - 20 during the first few weeks, then 30
- 35 per week during the busy period. There may be an opportunity for
the student to stay on a casual basis (10 - 20 hours per week) once the
school year starts.

Duties include: preparing for programs by working with current staff at
% P# W& N+ r' _4 t7 u: ]CIBS to secure and schedule various program requirements (off-campus
venues, tour agents, goods and services, program materials and supplies,
6 B2 N# M9 D" T' t* |! Letc.); reproducing and distributing documents and correspondence for
# y* b) k% [& b1 |& mparticipants, assisting to orient participants to the University and
3 Q3 o) _% Y8 |+ T% _their program on their arrival, and trouble-shooting for them during
their program; booking program venues, setting up for sessions,
assisting visiting speakers or invited session presenters, striking
venue at end of session; traveling as guide with groups on in-city
, R2 [9 F1 Z) g/ y* g, Z7 X% l/ Loutings or site visits, or, occasionally, on overnight out-of-city
excursions (does not involve driving or overnight week night
excursions); interpreting (non-technical exchanges) at meetings or
/ o& S; x3 E7 T: N* u; G' efunctions; translating, revising or drafting program-related documents
' r# O# A) F+ R+ `such as schedules, itineraries, notices, correspondence, PowerPoint
4 h* d$ W7 L) c- Tpresentations, program binders, evaluation forms, etc.

Qualifications include: senior undergrad student; coursework in
Commerce, Education or Economics preferred, ability to communicate
' j! W" S6 J/ w! p( H5 I* h* Lfluently (oral and written) in English and Mandarin Chinese,
demonstrates a high-level of self organization, initiative to undertake
a variety of tasks; ability to coordinate individual efforts with those
of co-workers, excellent interpersonal organization and time-management
2 W* m& w7 c8 |9 z! Q8 L4 Yskills; accuracy to detail; working knowledge of MS applications (Word,
/ C1 g/ \# V5 l" R3 eExcel, PowerPoint and Outlook); administrative experience an asset,
experience coordinating group activities an asset.
