The Research Data Centres (RDC) Program is part of an initiative from Statistics Canada, the

to support the policy research community.
Position: Part-time Assistant
Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.

Job description
2 N- X  k& C* m$ @4 _; j# cStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
1 B; X# k! p- d) FYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
6 O/ _7 X" z9 H: S  [lab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
0 D* s, g) J! M6 [+ ^$ P9 lThese responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
. v: z& a7 V5 J) g, `4 Sfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
6 C. d2 u$ k: m) }8 M% _-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
# @+ f, r& Q0 H7 _( Oclients’ files etc.
4 P! f) u( ]2 [' R6 kStatement of Qualifications
Education:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
0 W' j; i( d) L* U-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
$ ^+ ^5 d6 `; J-Experience using and updating an information database.
# O+ ^( @$ G& g7 w; c& N+ Z, |9 {
) ?7 D7 h/ \6 |$ I4 D8 AAssets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA

-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
