Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.9 |2 R$ l& Y I% G9 x+ k
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
) y% _1 |, c, CMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
! ~$ i" N( k, {9 F2 ^* CSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.4 X8 N3 O* A9 I2 Z( W6 Y2 C* u
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
