One police officer has been killed and another two seriously injured in Paris after coming under gunfire on the city's famed Champs Élysées boulevard. One assailant was also killed.

"An automatic weapon was used against police, a weapon of war," the spokesperson, Pierre-Henry Brandet, told reporters, adding the "terrorist threat" in the country remained high.
