Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me: 2 v8 |1 W8 {! C% C. K6 l6 `
"I am going to send it back". ; P+ Z, h$ G1 Q5 _
I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:* V1 X8 G0 w% v6 Q7 ~
"I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
* _+ b; I$ |/ D/ M- YHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
. a' O6 g5 d: s"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?"
; @# H0 H" {- A U"Yes, I did.": b& k! e0 C4 C; C/ e
Finally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
9 {3 y0 t' i9 |0 x" m+ I5 X9 AHe took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. ' d+ q/ D9 D5 B! U9 {
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"7 K/ G/ R. l6 _2 r" b, F r
"No, I am not. I do not do those things." R4 ^8 s1 g( P0 G
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. 9 A/ I, J% q5 C
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:" |3 E6 t7 I, v/ Q q* b
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"
# f, h- M1 J& G! s3 C"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"
4 N- I6 J0 T0 CHe did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
7 ~# M1 j. P- t6 } k; DMy heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. % H8 q0 h2 G9 T. t/ d. K' w i' E
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
