中国同学遇见老外,想知道人家的姓是怎么拼的,经常脱口而出:
4 r! m% M" P2 p" z9 U. ~$ m( d3 p' |" } o, `+ L7 J
How to spell your last name?
( _* _9 X/ Y$ a0 }1 R
' L* W% w% w0 a9 I8 O$ X. ?其实这种错误不光是中国同学特有的。亚非拉的同学很多都这么说。从语法的角度说,how to spell your last name ... + [: p) Z, j4 ~) a2 I: a9 G
2 b+ u' l5 y. h* W x$ P
"how to..." is a phrase. Therefore it can't be used as a sentence like " How do you...; Since it is a phrase, it can be used as TITLE--you can use a word, a phrase or a sentence as a title. Same reason "how to..." can also be used as part of a sentence: " I am not sure how to spell your first name."
! v1 n% N: z2 D/ |! ]' j5 U7 [" N. I* H B! ]+ P0 Y
"Long time no see" is from old English./ F5 ]8 L- m; Y$ _* V
" D5 E& p( Y0 T: ]' J"No problem" is short form for " I have no problem..." "There is no problem ..." so when used in answering something, it is simply expressed as "No problem". |
