3 E3 C* L8 M  {2 n5 I　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　One single white immensity.

8 b" U" k# b. K& w( e$ D1 v- A　　The Yellow River"s swift current

　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

; g/ _+ N0 D0 u! _/ |. g2 t# v. o) v　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty

* p' }+ t7 |! T" s, q. l　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

" r% R7 ?8 I0 R9 F　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti
: N- X/ z, V5 w, I; y
　　Were lacking in literary grace,
/ H. \) Y- ?* X) }! n; n* I
　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

　　Had little poetry in their souls;
/ J0 e( M5 x* ~  h% c  Y+ b　　And Genghis Khan,

　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,
' A4 d7 ~' n" t3 l$ c) e' z
) ?) d' Y7 A: i' n6 L5 o4 k; T　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

　　All are past and gone!

　　For truly great men
