Conservative candidate Tim Uppal said his party has an excellent record on welcoming newcomers.1 e# k2 N8 I" C; d6 l1 a1 h! t% u
2 T$ }+ r0 \0 X6 c“Under this government, we have had the highest levels of sustained immigration in Canadian history,” he said.

% [+ l* F: {" j% j& iUppal also defends bill C-24, legislation that allows the government to strip citizenship from dual citizens convicted of terrorism or treason. He said when someone has been convicted and served their time of a charge as serious as terrorism it’s common sense to deport them.
' L& C6 `; U1 U" q4 ?/ ?“If we can have their citizenship stripped, because they’re a dual citizen, than I would rather not have them in this country,” he said.
