A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed 9 N+ e2 W& s6 O6 v
each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably coifed and

nursing home today. 7 r8 [; \& ~6 x2 u( v9 H* U
S7 B' E* b" Z; \* D# |, p, F# rHis wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
- k/ U R" h5 I N8 t" m4 MAfter many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home,
+ @7 C/ r( c. K1 ^he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. 7 k2 i) @ Q0 y5 E" i
# Q2 B' K8 N) ]/ h f8 fAs he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual - a9 h! R4 `, o4 [* J2 x1 g q
description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been 1 O) e: z( ]; }( r" p" n8 [% ?+ k
hung on his window.

: _$ b% g& z* X/ X5 H( K"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having

"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait."

room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how

It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up.

I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I
8 @% |7 L3 m# f. H. c/ jhave with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed

2 F% |8 Y. ?' M0 z6 t& hEach day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new

Just for this time in my life.
