EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
( b' B) g; G4 W% _; D n
2 e6 [3 q7 M2 ]The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

. {! A6 P/ L R0 B0 APolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.; U& Q% {( H0 x% J
& \! d _* g7 |) i0 {"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
