EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.( W! E. W8 v. h% i) K5 Q. s5 B# a
* h+ N% N3 h% i* P2 o
The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

7 l" b/ _# [+ w6 A" IPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

% A* r' p$ K" L" i- z"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
