+ c% X2 f* U c: q3 FExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
' R; [$ I% ^. C! r% l) {not do any of the following:
f( c! M# u0 O(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor$ D) p6 f/ n% r2 d0 s2 n( K5 M
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
2 v* e; P' Q% @% n" S(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor

(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
% `7 s2 G6 p- u' Ypermit another person
/ D/ T% t; \/ W(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
4 S" |# Q) K; @3 x ]1 Q3 d(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
$ u; [0 ~; j' K+ dunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;( n( x+ ?( S8 b C' p
(d) give or lend a financial
" w* U/ _* ]; c' Zresponsibility card or a copy of it' Y+ u7 k9 Z, v
to a person not entitled to have that financial7 j$ Y* B! \& ~+ l
responsibility card or copy." s1 {- @1 g+ X' l% H; p

' \) j+ e4 w7 B; e' ?If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
5 ~* s* O) b* c7 @without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of. p B' M3 h- t$ D+ x; s
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection4 h# e7 U* P0 H. a6 s9 i3 R
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
# s9 s6 p& U" Z# Xnot an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this7 o! ~/ U) j) @7 U& x
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this" A; a4 W2 K& r: }5 K
section.

0 b* c' o h/ }* ^ vSubsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
: S7 Q" c* D, C% w$ nfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the( O2 `+ a/ |" M( |' ]% D3 v+ k

) F8 D `8 [8 k9 _1 y- g5 C7 zby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
, y+ f& {* Q; C3 T6 p7 toutside Alberta.
! f" b" v5 ?; L( G" F7 L(4)
- e) a# Z$ q: S- e8 w. DA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
: A6 g& ~6 ]5 U6 h(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
9 b3 ~& _ A, m X0 m(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25001 x" q: J i% D% l g& ` p
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to" _2 h t- _, T9 ]# K% {
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
' Z, F& K+ ~3 o2 q% O2 i+ C/ gmore than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
