- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
$ K2 _% c* z+ c9 @& J# X( u; c) @- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
" l( ?0 n. o. H" }! a- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
6 v& A! p6 j. l& u6 J- Select type and size of pipe required
# m6 l. V% K. r+ x: c- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools2 v1 R8 F8 y) M! @6 X: |$ F C
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
& k4 H' f5 T' }( F1 |- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
; J# E: s% N. D, Y: C# f- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
7 z, Z4 B: a" X! Z& r- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system' ~7 `/ J8 ^/ l; `. C
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Completion of secondary school
" D/ z6 V2 ~$ a% F- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation % @" ]5 }. B% K# \) n: Z
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
* m* v2 g$ i7 l' a- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
