NAIT的Electrical Engineering Technology这个专业出来一般都干嘛

朋友很想去读这个，想了解下有没有这个专业出来的前辈介绍下，就业情况怎样，一般都是干些什么样的工作。谢谢大家

虽然没有读过，但是很确定这个专业毕业的不是electrician，职业定位应该是，designer,technician和technologist.

- e7 S5 S) H9 U" k+ a那这个专业出来通过了政府的认证，然后做了electrical tech/technologist，一般都是在什么样的地方工作？在city里面朝九晚五的工作机会多吗？不太希望是那种要到郊区户外或经常黑白颠倒的工作

办公室工作的机会也非常大。designer, customer order engineer(manufacture), technologist等等，你去查一下Monster或workopolis之类的就知道了。

楼上几位说成为electrician的可以具体说一下吗？找不到对口的工作所以只好去干electrician了？还是大部分人都去干electrician了？

Electrical Engineering Technologist:

7 r% L  `9 R# c9 e- \1) Field Service Technologist/Technician
    Perform tests on transformers, switchgears, and onther electrical equipment. Around 95%      
8 b: s2 B" c$ b- w" `: W    working on site, field or substations. Starting wage about $23/hr.

2) PLC programmer
+ x' X( y( j% |$ d, }2 e1 e    Perform PLC system maintenance and programming. Around 50% working on site or field. Starting
& q$ p  H7 I+ `7 B" B    wage about $24/hr.

. B% p3 A- H  B# [) w5 c/ }: s3) VFD technician
7 m2 `  J% k! x! i4 T  d" y+ Z( S    Perform VFD test and maintenance. 70% working on site or field. Starting wage about $25/hr.

    Perform electrical equipment maintenance and repair. 50% working on site or field, 50% working  
    in shop. Starting wage about $24/hr.

5) Electrical Designer
    Perform electrical system design such as cabinet design or power system design. 95% working in  
    office and 5% on site. Starting salary about $44,000, its starting salary is lower than that of field  
    service technologist or others, but after 3 ~ 4 years later the salary could be higher than  
    $70,000/yr (equal to $35/hr).

6) Electrician
    Perform electrical equipment installation, maintenance, and repair. You have to spent another 4 years as an apprentice even you have an ELT diploma. You have to find an employer to hire you as an apprentice. Normally for a Canadian whose friends, or brothers/sisters, or father/uncle/mother is an electrician he/she will spent another 4 years working with his/her father (uncle/brother or ...) and eventually he/she will acquire an electrician trade certiificate. This is an easy way for them to be an electrician, but that's harder for an immigrant. The starting wage is good, I think at least $25/hr. An electrician will spent most time in shop, on site or in the field. That's all as my understanding.
