Job Title: Program Manager Abbottsfield Youth Project

Job Purpose:
: T# @8 K- @* m8 o) xTo support the Executive Director with fundraising, special events and will be instrumental in the development of our Social Enterprise. This position will also be working directly with children 6-12 years old to teach life skills such as self esteem, communication skills, peer relations using recreation and physical activities to promote growth. Small group facilitation, one-to-ones, family support, advocacy and referrals are used to achieve program outcomes.

This is a full time, one year term position working 37.5 hours per week with 10-15 hours per week dedicated to the children’s programming. (Continuation of this position will depend on available funding)

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities include:1 Y( T# {' N0 _5 o6 |! d2 u& C
• Working together with the Executive Director to solidify new funding opportunities and write funding reports as needed;8 V9 p" m1 z! j* G
• Supporting in the overall development of programs and activities that benefit our community and our children;
* ^) \5 T- T- t- w( c% L6 x# ]• Maintaining and evaluating program outcomes;
% [, J0 U- w8 v( _& k* n• Spearheading the further develop our social enterprise; 3 J. w B0 Y- E
• Risk Management and succession planning;

* O* W- E5 G5 t" O! H# H% b7 nProgram Duties and Responsibilities include: # d C; L, U: O
• Maintaining comprehensive and objective contact notes related to child or conversations with others about child;3 o' H6 Q l0 S, s% @ A
• Maintaining confidentiality related to all participant information;
) ]0 ?" j5 f. U$ a$ v7 j" r• Liaising and/or advocate with school personnel, parent/guardian, and child, as required;
; _% u+ c# L* J4 s9 {+ e! P• Creatively planning, organizing, and evaluating small group and one-to-one activities
. T3 t1 ] G5 h: ~1 S1 d• Participating in establishing achievable program outcomes and employ group strategies and activities to achieve the same;4 S4 W9 J8 r1 f2 a5 v: b
• Meeting with participants on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve success with their goals;

• Participating in the planning and implementation of family activities for participants & families;

Qualifications:6 u1 k4 u a0 A! p8 `# l" B' e! f
• Degree in communications, human services or related field;
2 h& M2 s8 D: y3 {- Y• Extensive knowledge of the not for profit or voluntary sector;
6 n x3 u4 D# c: S9 q# E: a• Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations; ' m v: n/ `4 V w* Z* v2 V
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in writing funding proposals and reports a must;
) ?9 T8 s# {$ P7 |# `! ?. E9 s+ ?• The abilities to multi-task, creatively problem solve, communicate effectively, foster teamwork, and build relationships are critical.2 J9 ^6 d/ M6 k: {" q
• Extensive experience in group facilitation and working with children;
& Y& K/ A/ J; s• Current certificates in Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Suicide Intervention, Standard First Aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are preferred;6 ^4 t% i+ m7 p2 Q) i1 a" i+ N
• Clear CYIM, Security Clearance, and Driver’s Abstract;
6 S0 E3 W x2 n3 i) O' |4 M# R• Current valid drivers license;
+ s& {' N4 l3 M' \; K• Knowledge of and comfort with the implementation of behavioural intervention strategies;9 U0 w. r* L D" ^
• Conflict resolution skills;

• Committed and passionate about children;# w; ^/ M5 d0 ]+ E# s
