Job Description:
9 R2 o: G, n' j3 k6 @3 s• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed; I' {' W- Z& |1 \! l% Z
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
( q- p ^- ^7 Q• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
# u1 t( C* Y; Y, w. u6 m• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams' K8 a" B0 W" @' B
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
) Z9 \/ j5 h: k! G2 `* x7 x; ~3 U• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment3 `0 g. V) _( B
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools" {, {% z4 x7 T5 H. N) e- R& p
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
d$ `6 n: o! J• Mix paint, blend and match colors
) Z a. U* G9 z! I5 i0 g• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns6 R+ g% q% W& Y% a. p
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
0 D* t3 }) T$ F' d$ e• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation8 Q; l) N5 q; R. @- s: l. |5 `$ G( s/ L
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling& M% q. `/ o6 x" y
Education and Experience Requirements:5 j: ~! c8 e: _
• Completion of secondary school is required* r# @! x8 B7 }- G, V4 {! b
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 8 S. t( o6 h! W' M/ Z( n
or6 w' p! p: F2 I1 c7 F
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
6 B" a6 i: o; N/ W/ h& u* w• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
