YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
; d+ Y% \$ W+ b! \) c" ]Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
- D& w0 V# `( n% mnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
, ?4 X3 W  O0 ?peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
" p# G2 q( Z4 {! h# WThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

) d' g  Q! v9 M. sproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
& t# H% t; O3 r. r( P" E# {- w5 aThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
: k% O9 O1 ]1 j' u9 v" J: Ythe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
, _  I  g( f! Z0 ]& qparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
! @0 J! n3 Z' _0 F: mpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
: d5 t. L' q6 X( X+ E9 i2 @2 kAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
5 @" m; X3 U+ q0 O! b! U# wand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
1 c2 @2 u9 X0 x8 w9 _9 O" z3 s& nYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
