YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
: H3 h, d9 _. t' P- ]/ oAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
! q: _$ z9 {* [9 G& |6 Cpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
2 E: o- g6 c, v6 Q, v1 r' XThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

& U: h  G9 ~& ~& f4 zproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
8 S6 Y9 t! k3 L/ fThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
: f2 S  v5 Q8 Sparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
5 V# Y5 q6 J# G' i# p; H- B- X" zAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
  R1 v$ \3 s. lfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
; ]  q- ]$ V1 [1 }% v4 h+ V" ?YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
