青少年义工机会

T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
+ V- x1 }% Z: W; B- [9 ^3 w( wAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering * N8 l/ a1 {$ b; g: P$ @$ w
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on ' ^1 N5 q( a: z/ t: k+ A
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
) F6 B: l# ~% V, a- E: N1 ]and  Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

What will take place in the sessions?# R8 R8 w( `, F2 Z. z8 n9 U
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

) \7 f- i% c( i  I3 e/ O+ _These activities will enable youth to:
( s* N2 u* A* _! D& }( @8 q Explore personal interests in arts and recreation! ^% r9 W8 d; s! S- e$ b/ S
 Learn how to access community services and programs
9 b0 J, W& b  q  A. K9 ^ Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills) @% R% k5 f6 v9 \; O1 r
 Identify personal leadership strengths …

Program Schedule:( c0 y9 s$ u. ~) e% L6 u' ]
Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m., r# t; ~. g8 p9 g4 ?; I
Summer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
% ?. J9 S, v) n- W5 v- \                              2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily0 x( a# W# s& m' K! ~% _! f5 R  c4 d

5 X! \1 Y3 s5 F) \- N0 H& _Who can participate?
# [' W4 ^7 k' wAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area./ l( Z* p/ o  c5 q# J6 T

  \- q: G' W! V$ V$ [  ^$ QWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?, ~( i# j" a& t) ^- _2 [+ g8 i
It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group./ a9 b; T5 S% i

- q8 ]" c2 {2 U& x9 M+ F; |6 Q  X& q$ u/ r% C0 X8 v
Volunteer’s Duties:
7 p1 Y/ \0 m8 Z7 O7 c+ A5 X, ~& F+ y* s- K% E" X
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies 4 W) [2 @. X, l* b+ @- O4 a
 Facilitate and/or coordinate   activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
' E" \4 h0 D, Q Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities$ ?) v* u0 O; B6 n
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
, g7 j; y' e% G% \0 T: b: t: B8 G$ u Research activities related to the sessions’ topic) U$ l" m9 s( u" [, Q
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips$ e% F% J8 {1 @1 d% G
 Assist in program planning
& V3 a( F2 e! D Be a role model
0 u3 _4 a- O) n( T* b5 t- g% ?) g1 v- Z+ R
Volunteer Commitment:, M' ?3 I& ^$ P/ W4 l/ t. L: ^4 Y5 _
. ^% w3 v' [4 i! F+ M2 H
 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
: N+ P$ M/ S' B0 z! W7 B One time volunteers:  minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer7 I0 w, v8 J: L' P  K

1 D' Z- H" d0 ~  g0 \  o Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator0 }& ~$ a+ S. I0 ~* o6 G/ g
 Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program! U2 I* d! {3 i, }$ h
 A team player
5 v7 l$ ~) M( l8 I/ G& W* R Able to work independently with minimum supervision* |2 b" q9 u1 }4 U; P+ J1 E: \
 Value the building on strengths of  children, youth and families
1 J' N5 Y: v/ n Willing to work with youth including youth at risk+ \& N- Q2 ]3 L  D) p! ~
