In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.3 O3 B8 r4 m! o" }( N& {- A9 `5 ]

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. 6 P; g4 q1 @0 c+ p l7 Z; x
SEDI is staffed to:
) r+ R4 v& H% `; F• conduct socio-economic market and policy research & d- p! z3 s8 L; \
• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners / R7 |: a+ ?% J& J$ W
• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
* h( K+ @/ D! T& J8 x• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs # p9 d# L# p4 { w) `$ V* p
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
( w, q5 Y9 r8 t, G* i• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses % A3 M( q* x) h7 b% y! c
• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada ; J; `( y6 Q$ {* U2 a7 ?$ A
Primary Responsibilities and Activities: 8 R7 k. s! s4 |% @! z5 Q
• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada - B# a1 t" N7 t
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) . v5 Q" @) E8 v
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required 8 k G2 {& y! Q: k) W; A
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities
- H( n# }7 P& T7 K! Q- z• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
5 N, w0 W& h r+ X& \• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required ' ]+ g3 w) G( r: q* J
Other Activities:
9 v- n& o$ F) B3 p% h1 T• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies $ `- k( a: M ^4 U/ s4 F* p8 b
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
& o5 |4 g( G+ b/ B2 A• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting ( X* S& R! A! Q$ `8 P" s
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports 3 q1 G, f. A# n* ^0 o( L; M8 }
• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning ' t. _: t0 y0 ?; ^
Primary Qualifications:
0 w- q) W" \5 ^) t: ?+ G8 o• Demonstrated group facilitation experience 3 r3 o5 \+ y1 n% ^3 K9 T, W) b$ ^
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
3 @/ D2 W, W6 q5 p. {% s3 F• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training % j" `% d% u* x& k
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities * y( ^+ f. ^1 K' H* ^8 P6 K4 E
• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams
$ w! L/ L* n- G' y' x+ R• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals ) s2 q2 e ~9 }' \9 N
• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
& _. y# p& R3 n% {4 U/ \• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them 1 g G9 c# b- p$ {* Y) P
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc * V& v7 f) {1 _$ g7 D3 \
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education
! A H# Y) D- @9 S" @• Content / curriculum development experience 0 t2 I: l, e9 S# k! J& p6 q* Y
• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners
/ f6 z/ S+ i8 _0 j$ L- K& Y' J) V• Excellent organizational skills ; V6 M4 E! [; z
• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc.
- }' C# ]! U- G• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset
* @! j# T5 y& o; t• Policy research skill set is an asset
