Our government recognizes that the Internet and digital technologies are

innovation, commerce and social interaction. As the government develops" O$ z; f9 n4 _# a7 ?; h: i
Canada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look
( F1 G5 M: |0 K0 acarefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be, c( ^3 ?! | G9 p! B1 f/ {! r
guided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and2 L, p0 ~( }4 v. }3 u Y0 ?
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing
6 Q9 b# f/ \: @7 R, mmarket forces to prevail.

1 ^$ }1 Q6 o1 I) |The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has: _( `% F& O. c5 r
chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large5 f* q' }3 @) {6 z; O |
number of Canadians. Details of the CRTC consultation are available at

government will carefully assess the CRTC position to ensure that it is in
