• supports foreign-educated engineer and engineering technologists, and

immigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it

What is the practice?
. x& A t0 A5 ~. kIntegrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work
( S# w. J2 W1 \4 c# z6 E8 `experience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or. V' @' ^" R5 H
English as a Second Language.; H0 w& S0 X* y- j: W) E$ K9 m
The ETIP program involves four phases:

The training components of ETIP assist participants in developing skills' k, c) I+ r( k
required for the Alberta workplace. Training includes:

• computer training.

Canadian workforce.

graduates.
# Y. b& V, h/ }What is the evidence of success?
j K# h! c0 e/ G3 EAs of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have) V& P8 ]4 O1 _
found engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.
/ \) _1 W+ e8 Z; L) x( MIn 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of. w8 c1 d- Y3 Z7 P% g: u# d! ?' o% U
graduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,
. S* A$ f0 Z6 i* k0 Y9 z1 F! swith over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.5 R! o$ Z3 Y, e
