ERIEC will be hosting an inaugural Career Mentorship Symposium on January 31st, 2011. With a primary focus on the banking sector, the objective of this full day symposium is to provide a dynamic venue where newcomer members of Edmonton’s global talent pool gain valuable professional development advice that they can apply to effectively navigate the labor market. By means of the symposium Edmonton based financial institutions will demonstrate their individual commitment to diversity and Alberta’s commitment toward ‘Building and Educating Tomorrow’s Workforce’.

Where: Crowne Plaza – Chateau Lacombe, Edmonton
Time: 8:30am -4:00pm

Eligibility Criteria for Internationally Trained Banking Professionals:

) [) U; _* M' D- S: H$ r0 S# UPotential participants are required to have completed a job search workshop and be referred to register for the symposium by a career coach or employment counselor. Please note that only landed immigrants, permanent residents and those in the live-in caregiver stream are able to participate. Other eligibility requirements include:

A minimum of 2 years experience in the banking sector outside of Canada
6 [9 d) H& m# e& ^% gBeen in Canada for three years or less
: }) F- N: T$ I! e3 v6 fEnglish language proficiency at a CLB level of 7 or higher
! p9 z  }6 |: [6 c, S' m8 WA desire to pursue a career in banking within Canada
& g; s" z' G6 M( t& `2 ?% Q/ NNot currently employed within the banking sector in Canada
