Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
. b6 I* S% P. n- g Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
+ C8 H% \0 F& @# D( ?' q; ]( I Completing required paperwork.
" C% u' q& z0 z! o Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
* A7 e6 e# Z& t Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
; u; _* q7 d0 a5 p Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
( I' n) ?4 E, Q1 s+ f& `# { Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.

Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
/ p- b( @" A" E6 Y* c" B: R Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
0 h& A- ~) s) S! M' H Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
3 i# A" n' N& Y. h+ x! Z Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
. j3 I0 J. a9 V Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
& E1 h" R, O5 A3 `) mThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
; n$ l/ t- [; d0 Fstarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
