Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
+ P9 M0 S( [9 |) j Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
  N7 M8 d( t  `. R* L2 n& l Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
1 V; I# N+ B6 s2 }# f Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
- L1 `& H2 Q4 z Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
0 I1 W. P; T: V* S Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
& h/ e& `* X5 m* v' m Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

6 G( |& L( Y, j) E0 P/ m- v3 E Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
. \. d& B* q0 K& r. Y Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
+ W- }$ D+ p. H5 v6 G Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
5 X, `2 A$ {/ T, B; I; D3 i) { Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
( q9 H7 p+ J% ]3 H, X6 Y Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

/ ?2 S: C0 Q% GPosition:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
