针对一些同胞和一些母语非英语的移民由于英语问题而被 解雇或不公正对待的问题,相关机构正在准备建立一套英语评估标准,包括听、说、读、写四方面。主要是听和说, 这也正是我们的弱点，目前这项研究还刚刚开始。2010年7月5日星期一上午10:00—下午1:00, 相关人员在IBEW424 培训中心会议室 召开了第一次会议,参加会议的有：

未来的几个月内会有人到一些工地去摸底，包括面试、观察等。主要是寻找这样一条线---母语非英语的电工达到这条线，在工作中英语就够用了。（谈何容易）。对英语过关的同胞，期望以后雇主再不能把英语不好作为解雇的理由。（理想状态）。对英语不过关的人，就要赶快学英语了。
