FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

$ ^. l8 N1 i2 Z. E5 R, A8 J) b• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
+ h2 M  }) T# x; N3 x& f; I0 G• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
; J" _, {4 ^9 _* P* }• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
/ A! c" ^! X$ C  T• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
2 {( p+ }; q  Y  l* \' D! ^• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
3 m: \, M& W8 g! N$ m• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
& _- V: |6 |; A+ @; W; l4 c• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
; D: X1 S& E, I( w• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
4 k/ i  v8 r* W) n+ Z& w# S, q6 C• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
; K5 B: O1 s( n& u2 a8 ^• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
  [4 {6 D  ^: f: A6 b• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
4 b! N, ?' F+ J• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
- e2 ^6 j- p# n% Z8 {7 h+ u1 C8 a• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
