* 59% bought a larger home; 24% downsized 2 z) O" K7 Y, C * 74% bought an existing home; 22% bought new construction + m1 v$ y0 i q, s2 B * 55% purchased a single-detached home; 18% bought an apartment condo " g3 i% y+ R& Q. W$ e * 5% of households intend to buy in 2010; 53% of those are renters$ S6 W* C$ C6 p3 p& t* j
* 42% of those intending to purchase plan to make a down payment of 20% or more. + e2 \3 K$ u9 j% T: k/ {! |/ W# g) S4 j
The report surveyed 5-10 metropolitan areas across the country.
