7 l! @6 J7 b5 T3 X/ {this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
3 w& z4 X& f( YEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and " l+ C4 I" X+ Y, o5 u5 Y
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA 3 L! w9 o" `/ G# N8 K& W
Edmonton annually assists over 9,000 people with programming that reflects the diversity of the

Responsibilities ( c2 v/ j  Z: p& Z, K" `4 |/ j

2 h' x+ @' q" I0 VReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and & _& r8 U7 d& c. m: a
execution of the YWCA Strategy 0 ^" p$ A. Z1 s" ?( c& s# u# Y

2 G' N2 o, s; N( {Specific responsibilities include:  
2 J) t0 l$ F- G" ] - p0 Z4 S+ W2 v# D! O8 Z
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of " D6 Y$ i' d7 B4 S
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by $ _7 v7 ?4 U- F8 Q. a9 ]
the Board of Directors;  2 R% }& J  M1 b# E
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 6 G" n8 P' X( O0 ?1 U2 N( f: f
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to : k0 s2 k8 v# s4 b* U" y. P
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
0 O5 |( b& F" y+ R, }- r•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
1 t0 J8 G7 w3 r+ ^: wobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
: O0 X( o" K1 V  s& h: e- Gthe board;  
/ k9 m* U  W  ^* k•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  # `/ z- P- l. r2 k& j: q% M: I0 |& r
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion + y2 X0 w& M2 C7 j, }
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
9 \* Z0 A7 V: ~$ H6 m. ~•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
2 P( x% U+ Y* |changing needs of the organization and community;
, {& Z1 Z9 C% C& q2 ]3 o$ E•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : d! v* O0 v$ K9 X9 T
commitments;
% ~  F5 L0 p9 l! ]) M' l•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
0 L# u2 l, F% ]( c1 e1 m9 z; ?. E•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ; p( p/ F0 \$ e3 h& d& u
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
0 r/ {5 t/ Q/ A4 F6 x•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 7 x# n: m$ `& t0 o* D
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 1 _3 G8 ?! s- h# Z) E1 u) g
effectively and positively represent the association; , N" S- i  H. ^% h
2 C& c! G1 x+ w+ M4 e5 E
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / u- Q' G+ K0 k% Y+ _
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  9 n5 B5 a. L4 r2 r$ a( Y
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal % \' u! |1 x. D, x) t
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
# f7 @: J5 u5 H" cthe forthcoming year;  
. w6 E* l5 n8 p•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
8 Z, Z3 r; t, Kpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
" X# U) O2 P: OYWCA Canada; and
0 r9 z; l2 @3 ?- k! X# y•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
/ i$ @7 U) G. f: t9 cForces.

8 y. N6 }- `/ i•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
- _3 n+ Z2 m7 V•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus ' T7 H! s" C: L' J6 _+ u
around decisions, plans and actions;
* A, E3 r1 a0 X# H, M$ m•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
' [! p& S; z) v9 F, f•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable 4 L$ v$ W( y2 Q8 G/ @5 R
and achievable with realistic timeframes;
4 B) |1 ]; `- @8 v& f: ~: h8 e7 ?7 X•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
3 z3 M2 V' B# b$ M4 W' C0 Ssimultaneously; + X: m7 Y" L2 s) k, N/ Q$ @& z# n3 f
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 8 t: E- S9 z2 A! ]- b% b
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; $ e9 b" i' k' \0 }# w2 q
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
) M! j) Q/ ], v2 \1 F9 e; r7 Q- v•  Superior negotiation skills.   O' c& s3 D) c6 d

Required Professional Designation / Certification : l+ H- P" \9 [5 P, l9 E- j
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. & A' c0 p& w- F4 j# M
8 p) }/ r/ r9 ^+ i
Required Experience
- |' h8 l# q  Q' q2 V•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
7 _# d! \% w0 I. g' P6 d' _" h•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
1 l: Z) M# h, z1 L' kabilities; + ]; q1 y' W1 |
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, 8 J' A( T% i$ l1 O% H7 v7 |0 Y' M1 m$ T
Networking and Fundraising;
* v' A  G  B1 ^1 l•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting 1 X2 S4 z* P* c* ~5 J
and financial statements; and
9 ^4 e- x9 x; W' d2 `•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women * X& t( Z! z7 F& c5 B
centered perspective. % h3 b* ^* [, I6 U: @
