In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 5 p6 r/ q. h/ o ~% O% u
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. - W6 w4 `! z7 r) q3 |7 |+ N
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
- ^2 r5 _4 g2 \/ DOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 7 |) _1 N+ ?3 |- D q
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. X( b" }" P- p' Q5 o9 x
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. " N' @. }2 m1 \3 X0 [' X
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.

Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 1 M" n5 k6 `2 |( \. _2 a
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 9 y8 m" B+ I. _: y
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications ' w2 `9 o& ]; ~
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 9 _) v( H9 \( e$ P" v; e% }
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
9 _) } A( u% k: jPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
) m$ p6 c, ~8 {* |6 d! [ }) dPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. : p8 Z/ T7 f. }& x9 j9 i
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
