Responsibilities + b K) U& V' ` S4 A0 f
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 1 H0 V! l5 `6 {0 z" `
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. , i; p& [5 ^, q1 [ p1 p
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
( s+ ~! q2 i6 V) B$ b: hOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ' Q8 `- ^% G6 _" N$ X
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
8 E7 p0 ]7 Y4 t, t( EMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
: X- x( a" e8 l9 T2 QExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. : }* Z2 t3 X% m
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
9 Y, y1 g/ `+ }$ b' tDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. . Z) _6 j/ V. _
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 5 k4 L$ M6 W9 i( s: l8 ^, @
Qualifications
( Y7 v; H; W, j8 g6 A( T) aA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. - u/ x1 q0 P2 ~; h: o3 w4 T
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
0 u7 S! @* ^8 O4 N1 B9 u2 E' ?Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. @% T3 Q' y4 T- s( P
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ; {8 A0 \: C' k% H/ `( r
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
