Responsibilities:
' i& F/ r0 d& Q# H" O0 g) v) [5 _- Design and deliver educational and preventative workshops about addictions to kids & youth
0 Q* j3 t4 U; q# s% ?- ~1 s$ K- Work with a team of actors to develop and deliver of a touring play about problem gambling- ]) j& N8 f" s& y6 w9 R& i. M+ X
- Build and sustain relationships with schools, social service agencies and community groups
) H" i5 P2 }$ Y' ^$ ^! y- Identify community needs and best practices in the area of addictions prevention and further develop the program to meet those needs3 Q- K7 Q0 J% m4 W
- Complete regular reporting to Alberta Health Services – Addictions & Mental Health
. Q' r7 g8 x, Z+ m5 x% }0 h% @% d5 }: D3 f$ {% p: f6 u
n3 g) S, m8 l6 w, cKey Qualifications:
9 {; Z" k$ T7 ^7 _. z6 X- Post secondary degree or diploma in social/human sciences3 f! e) {% e" e2 |7 R/ x) ?
- At least 2 years experience in the fields of addictions & mental health, education, health promotion, public health or youth engagement
% n1 Z6 ^1 M# Q- Strong ability to work well with youth, community workers, teachers and others5 {, L2 b% o; R. c/ H
- Experience doing program development
1 S( \8 E. Y) _/ W- Strong organizational and coordination skills
; d7 m8 G2 J' Q3 _$ m& y: r: p8 f- I- Self-directed and able to take initiative
# t# U4 ?! F& S) y& k) P+ Y- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills; fluency in an Asian language is an asset" N( T0 }, N; U! K) s! r0 d2 ]
- Vehicle and valid drivers’ license
! a7 w8 x# \& w( u6 R1 y
% q0 l3 U e, ?( `1 [3 b0 V" y% K/ n! q) A3 I% y
Assets:
9 t/ U6 K/ t8 v8 K" g- Experience conducting community needs assessments and program evaluation2 K# _; H' y. x+ q3 i
- Knowledge of and experience working with immigrant and refugee communities
# r- T( T, R" Z) G( x& ?+ k- An understanding of the relationship between addictions and mental health. C; Q; ]3 e( q" P* _
- Skills in marketing & promotions
