This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
) _2 F# f2 t' ^6 JEligibility Criteria
2 ^& Q- {' x, b% pAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:0 J& W4 k; d! H; X4 T/ ^; J
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
( ` m: T$ X/ z% M, P/ @1 R9 H•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
9 s: C; ^6 A; Y5 o; R, F: N1 R. s( y•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English2 {* c4 U) _/ [3 Y3 |2 k
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada - o% q+ g$ ~. |/ y6 F! _8 n
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field" W3 |8 J3 w% \
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less
$ d1 I9 c6 E0 A•Be eligible to work in Canada! f1 o+ ]5 u& V: r$ J. Y+ g; L
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop: C4 l+ m) D# ]
•Lack access to professional networks

The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
