A 20-year-old woman has been charged after a tenant found the dead body of a baby girl under a bed in a north-end Edmonton home last week.

" X w" s9 W: e# Q% tNaomi Russell-Simpson is charged with committing an indignity to a body, neglect to obtain assistance in child birth and concealing the body of a child.

The 20-year-old college student was granted bail Tuesday.8 Y0 a6 @& H" Q* F

Police have released few details on the autopsy results, but said Tuesday the girl was born alive. The girl's death is still being labelled as suspicious and not a homicide.% s) Q3 R/ N8 |. @; P2 ? v6 O
. B7 c$ X: y+ O( p6 x7 qThe infant was found on March 19 when a man sharing a home at 69 Street and 130 Avenue, who would only identify himself as Wayne, entered the basement suite to do some laundry.

( K# h8 \9 X3 J wWayne said his dog began barking and eventually led him to the body. He and his girlfriend called police after they saw a small hand in the bag. _7 S2 ~0 m1 Y$ V' f3 `. t

The charges neglecting to obtain assistance in childbirth and committing an indignity to a dead body both carry a maximum penalty of five years.
