A 20-year-old woman has been charged after a tenant found the dead body of a baby girl under a bed in a north-end Edmonton home last week.+ d. v6 e5 p* q) n$ x

Naomi Russell-Simpson is charged with committing an indignity to a body, neglect to obtain assistance in child birth and concealing the body of a child.

2 i: _9 @+ _) n/ C7 r8 sPolice have released few details on the autopsy results, but said Tuesday the girl was born alive. The girl's death is still being labelled as suspicious and not a homicide.! o. b, O/ r: ~# t' p; A/ Z U

The infant was found on March 19 when a man sharing a home at 69 Street and 130 Avenue, who would only identify himself as Wayne, entered the basement suite to do some laundry.

Wayne said his dog began barking and eventually led him to the body. He and his girlfriend called police after they saw a small hand in the bag.9 V* _/ V& C; P* k) c1 h
+ I/ t) q0 v3 ]2 OPolice said the girl's body was wrapped in towels and placed in a plastic bag.4 M' ]9 T8 J2 m

Police said there is a possibility more charges could be laid.

7 |% N1 i5 {* \+ L1 OThe charges neglecting to obtain assistance in childbirth and committing an indignity to a dead body both carry a maximum penalty of five years.
