Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students - o8 O! b+ q+ Z
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)1 H: H$ {4 {9 Q0 l r4 ~' S

Key Responsibilities Include" A& D# H# o1 n- F& e& W$ r
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
, z1 N: l% L+ S' y/ u7 N• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.9 P% F2 ?3 v3 x
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. , r6 j9 x3 a: Z8 o4 J5 a, _. ?
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
( g, }+ e" B: k/ D3 ^• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
( r& ^8 M# M' R% t, P5 _• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
5 a6 x2 t1 s4 Y' {: ^• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.8 l9 d# c- J8 Q4 `! v& b0 D
, X4 t0 b% B2 j% D% [- M: NThe successful candidate will have:
2 t. f+ H; J* n5 r z; }• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting4 {& B; o; K3 Z2 ^4 ` t
• Experience with children+ o& c5 q. S3 Y
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
( g; w: }% o& D. v9 R$ p. T• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
1 v4 i1 b: G5 a. |; x• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.2 X5 L- j4 `; j: `: P; J2 ?9 T
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
( H! ?2 C' I0 t! k• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
5 \1 J. j( W/ u: q- G• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
