Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

4 p) ?: y" ^7 `6 p0 f. Z: R2 U0 \(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

4 X3 u( @1 D2 uActivity Planning and Daily Activity
5 T( \" M+ S# E* {6 a+ e. m• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
& j. N1 X3 L9 I1 k; N+ e: |6 \2 Q1 U; K• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 9 y0 ?/ Q9 T5 b- s
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
5 a# M* Y8 G5 i' ?1 N2 P• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
$ f. c, z+ L& D/ }3 s- c• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
' p5 E$ T; l' @* n# c7 E• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.: O0 I, U$ }. v6 C. D2 Q

The successful candidate will have:
{, G+ l' M$ |7 W• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting: u- e4 P/ W- C( A. }( [+ {4 c
• Experience with children
& I( _$ P% u0 D9 L5 a6 O. n• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
& ?/ p1 l7 B' U @; e# v: r" L, Y• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
) H8 K1 ^& w- L4 T# s, y% c5 m• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.* r1 }! \ g" M8 o/ e: ]
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
* @2 [/ _' \0 w9 t/ d3 U2 D• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 8 R$ i3 B) p; K! r4 Z# D1 {
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
