Duties

1 T4 O4 h/ c% C2 g0 k5 i/ E) E * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
4 ~/ c+ d! [, z9 Y; k. w7 \ * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
0 I# G2 `5 @/ I/ Z) S5 e! A * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
, y2 J5 J+ j' ^+ ]2 m+ @$ D. G * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
& z0 @1 B: S0 N A * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies

* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
