Duties

" R$ ?4 r. D! c, o' ~- h; Q+ [ * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications1 [+ v4 ]$ p" i* A* q/ u' x5 h
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
; @+ @ I2 d% h * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
( }; E8 k7 z! j6 B8 D0 W8 `7 { * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
4 s5 D* M; J$ K$ w" ]5 t * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies. b7 ~* Y- Z$ Z1 ~2 a, a4 {
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
4 ]$ H, E; P/ } * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
