and some of them I do not like.

I go, I go

Though I lack the art

in my book of transformations5 W( I9 K n! r, g$ j
is already written.

and I am not who I was,

abides, from which I struggle

When I look behind, 5 w) @9 p; H4 \' S
as I am compelled to look

I see the milestones dwindling 4 _/ o) a( e: J4 Y9 s( X+ y
toward the horizon

from the abandoned camp-sites,
6 a1 ^- O7 i9 Dover which scavenger angels $ e% @) F4 o$ B1 q
wheel on heavy wings. ( l l, Q$ G' e" h# b
Oh, I have made myself a tribe
% Q! ]0 l @$ S9 h8 s! R) Sout of my true affections, , u5 X2 G* q. D3 w. d
and my tribe is scattered! $ v( A1 l9 j7 Y+ f8 F }. O
How shall the heart be reconciled
. G, \' ?9 B4 A) X% C1 rto its feast of losses?
+ {1 D/ x& G4 A! f' ]In a rising wind
+ ~& i( s8 d/ U6 I2 \; fthe manic dust of my friends, + [: Z9 k; q9 D2 o: E
those who fell along the way, 5 {) Q# a8 O9 B2 p8 c
bitterly stings my face.
D8 @9 ^) ^: L+ G% r% W8 N/ B, o2 bYet I turn, I turn,
% H; |3 x" o' }3 Wexulting somewhat,

and every stone on the road
