A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.

knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.$ O5 `! B+ I4 R( w
The program includes the following elements:4 |! b5 k; l1 v, L5 M
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
0 j2 Z! ~, j' V" I W- i4 F! t• Standard Child Care First Aid
8 U6 \: r# x- M' E$ L5 Y! P; B• WHMIS
' {# u: [' F& d* t• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care8 y8 M7 u) F# G p# i9 B$ v
• Components to improve communication skills
& n; |4 W6 X' v: K W• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search% B, q8 i& _+ C8 F( l: p3 v
• Practicum Placements/ v1 P% C6 d" M" y6 g9 E" d+ f/ {5 |
Eligibility Criteria' b0 X1 t, M' Y- A% r8 z
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
6 K2 n0 e/ P5 D: I/ Z/ u5 Oof Canada4 J1 o0 s* w! k* ?5 Z
• have a Social Insurance Number
/ d$ S4 B1 f0 R5 p• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check3 h! y1 L3 Y5 w X- A- |& _
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent5 f7 }; ]" z0 ^3 _( d
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time' {' m X" B: H9 N

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
/ J7 o- a, ]4 Q% j4 K3 athe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:4 V( F' Z2 L& z o5 K5 J4 k+ i
• be unemployed or underemployed.& Y N, V4 g: Y3 Z# f& v, s# E7 w
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
& ^; l3 d7 c& C- h• meet the financial eligibility criteria
