: E- ~* e0 a* A+ R  P$ wEdmonton — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in a west-end apartment yesterday morning.

( k/ G4 {: [% s- g3 M  gAmbulance personnel were called to the building at 9023 184 St. at around 4:20 a.m., found the body of a 50-year-old woman inside one of the suites, and called police.

Investigators have not released the cause of death, but are calling the death suspicious.

+ e$ }' E# G+ R( `) H6 WPolice say the address is known to west division officers, who have responded to the suite several times in the past for family-related disturbances.

Officers are speaking to a 20-year-old man who lived in the suite with the woman.

" S8 }. |* u$ O/ CYellow police tape surrounded the entrance to the eight-unit, three-storey tall building as tight-lipped EPS officers walked in and out of the home throughout the day.

% E6 `: Y! i: \! qA twisted samurai-style sword lay on the ground a few steps from the entrance, the only sign of anything amiss in the quiet complex.

/ f- |1 j/ S, y- A; S1 X2 w# q" P Though neighbours say they did not hear anything yesterday morning, some say the neighbourhood is less safe than it used to be.

% Y8 O: q% q4 C* I“My granddaughter is 20 and is scared to go out,” Joan Harvey said while visiting her relative yesterday afternoon. “I’m scared for her.”

If the death is ruled a homicide, it will be the 29th this year, ahead of 27 this time last year.
