Duties

9 V! R7 \/ X& U+ @) C: T * Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program
$ @2 ^0 u6 w# P * Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities; f$ o+ F! ^9 U# C: z6 I
* Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes2 H0 O) Z$ C) e8 c# _# B
* Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat
! i* I* B* R6 V6 n# \. U! a3 |" o * Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders" n& U5 R! Z: d- }
* Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements
0 w1 F7 Q" b& w+ Q5 S. A * Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs9 u8 e: ?8 Z, K, k5 M' R
* Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director
2 h$ x: `8 P. ^. p- D * Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning4 I$ a# h( Y$ {# N8 `. N* z
* Develops high quality promotional and educational materials
! h J3 l! J1 T z: K5 i; c * Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media

* Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies

* Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred& J' Z( t1 T' Y8 w' [. `9 f8 X
* Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
- F3 |+ e3 C6 w/ l: }4 k# {. } * Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
8 C4 A. K5 b) ] * Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies
# [% l! x' D* `; \1 U& ]( [ * Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills! H' [. O8 F6 j/ D/ x5 Z
* Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning
. S$ I0 D8 U, c * Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
