Duties

    * Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program
4 i4 Q5 ~; h6 h. I& s    * Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities
+ o5 ?& k; a& r$ u3 a    * Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes
9 R# @& W1 j# A& e) Q( W% ?    * Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat
1 T( Q. ~: c1 f' n    * Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders
; P, v( V8 A  }, |& a+ z; }    * Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements
# l. Q/ r0 s! e; @( G8 U2 R    * Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs
7 u9 G2 }% a' D, K) ]    * Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director
" l6 u* E$ G- d) X) }    * Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning
    * Develops high quality promotional and educational materials
    * Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media
    * Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results
5 E- A; {. s6 N, n4 R    * Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies

Qualifications

    * Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred
4 Y: \9 _8 x* L' l/ m    * Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
    * Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies
    * Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills
+ G8 O, o' S( g4 q% p    * Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning
; C0 S! ^+ w  D! X, E2 x    * Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
    * Excellent communication (oral and written) and analytical skills
