* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis& V" ?2 Z! b- `7 k! b; ^
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
8 m H% P( x$ o& n1 J, B; f * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques2 c9 z+ ~3 f, O l7 u1 r9 y9 r5 u% A
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
+ h1 G! |% o- E; H& u * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry4 s5 Y8 q; j8 B/ b/ a' G
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals& f( T. S. }) ~7 ~9 h4 ?2 M
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab

* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)9 ~/ g5 U6 _* |6 J$ B6 u( N7 O; G/ a: j, C

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred1 ?0 x8 R( [& F& K3 h h) C
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
+ C0 h* v5 P# O% n$ S * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
) G5 O% o0 w: E) B; t) o * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
, H s$ O6 R# Y! e, g * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
