May 9 2008 - Statistics Canada reports that the unemployment rate rose to 6.1% in April even though employment increased by an estimated 19,000 over the month as more people entered the job market. Calculated in the U.S. manner, the participation rate reached 64.5% in April. & f; K- s4 j! W9 y( w- T" R( Z
