Blunt在形容人的时候，“直白，不绕弯”的意思比较多。

我以为马大哈还是说“carefree”。

can we say that he is a careless person? Perhaps we can say that he is a saucebox, but it seems that this word 'saucebox' is not a commonly used word.

对，马大哈和冒失鬼其实还不完全一样。我是从冒失上而言，冒失有个用法，好比说一个人说话太冒失，就是blunt了。
