Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. / F0 v% T% ^% U- x* `

Job Description:
1 v# o' y$ l5 l. X9 ?( l; H# p `& h- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community* j3 ]" }( H, w( _' B4 l+ M
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services' f5 A& V2 P+ n4 U
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services3 W; a6 j; x F0 N& _
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website+ ]7 ~. r. ^3 X" l* y& {
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre/ o/ w4 g$ h3 ^5 j2 l
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services6 k' V2 M. t% K8 S
- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time, j! a) R& [/ q( Q
- update membership database

Qualifications
. s8 |4 B8 R' ~2 v4 A- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
" M: o5 G+ h9 W- good oral and written Chinese and English skills+ K4 u- P) ~$ y9 J/ i9 c) @
- experience in community work and immigrant services. {& f8 G; e3 V' l/ o
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
