Position title: Community Development Worker

# s2 Q% J& i+ x& o( ZPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. - G0 {. m. N3 K4 t5 s% @

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community4 S& a; Q9 o4 z* J% C
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services" d4 i8 s* X4 _0 t. t2 z
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services% l; a* [) j6 s7 c8 H* K- f
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies2 R& ~* {3 p, W) r+ ]4 ?' t; Q/ r' p
- coordinate good will activities
" g8 h3 \2 @ O( J9 n1 s- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
, U3 q% N+ D; V. B# G6 l- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.' Z0 R _& F2 i7 }7 \' s
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

/ p. l" K8 I" m7 \. x- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre0 e$ v+ G, J5 P+ q U, R
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
* }5 k, h# I' @2 m- assist in writing proposal for ISP
; n8 N+ U; T+ l! o7 O% z- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
& \2 x$ w- e+ h3 v- explore new ideas for ISP & r5 K) Y* ^+ g; W1 P5 y, _# b
- hold regular meetings with ISP team
, B5 v1 T0 X! {( x% N5 j- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time4 G3 s* B2 |/ g) f0 W1 c! ]

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
- I- {! A0 a( W& O9 B0 g- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 9 f/ b8 y9 E) w; v, s. B; K0 B
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
! s: |/ M& l9 Q- experience in community work and immigrant services
% s% [; s, M; t2 a8 d5 b# W- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars8 Z% p1 { T/ j. F4 D' H
- leadership skills- y% U8 l; v2 T4 V% ?# Y: J. H
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills8 N2 M$ t( B6 h: l1 H- }
