Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. # x5 o X I+ Y- [ y# a

7 n/ N( ^& f: |6 y. a' Q- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services+ ~" k5 l6 D% O+ l# V: J
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services4 x$ d1 q' r2 i# R
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
! G, T! l# s7 X! Y- coordinate good will activities/ |9 o/ `! i* r# N( E1 l" t
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members4 h2 [7 I. G8 m/ E" Y
- submit information for community news # i7 [" Z. A& a" o2 x+ n
- prepare and send AGM information to members. |7 c3 s" g: \
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.! F) X+ q9 ]2 y7 w C
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities! c4 k$ e- Y i
- update ASSIST website! a: [* L& ^8 A! n
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre7 I# u/ K. v! r1 e# N7 O
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services6 t, l- I; h' ]: y+ Q3 _
- assist in writing proposal for ISP% \1 C6 G" Q4 c a1 _% E7 W
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP: t) n8 Q7 h2 b$ a+ t
- explore new ideas for ISP
5 ^7 p) ]: p8 K' Q- w- hold regular meetings with ISP team
) q+ M2 P* x# b( T; N- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

& H. `/ U& E8 U X* A2 g5 i) P- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

0 m, t- y8 z2 O5 f- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
% L* j# J- d9 |6 w6 M- good oral and written Chinese and English skills( N2 B, Y y: {! f
- experience in community work and immigrant services
) q8 p4 T q5 H" o6 U- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
- {% e' P/ Q | `- leadership skills. F3 O. `/ k. a! ^; }5 ~
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills3 U- X2 X- C8 y8 c( c
