Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
9 y$ S5 P0 B1 |- V3 O2 _# [; p- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
$ Y+ f6 y( b% s9 M" G" u- coordinate good will activities
. D/ U7 I* Q# R3 x7 } `- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members( T& J" K" N- B( n9 z2 [# j2 d
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.7 d2 G# _! b4 k
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities
- @, m* \- G" d2 R+ f- update ASSIST website
' H; y8 B p( a2 n- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP
+ p: s+ z+ e8 V- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
% m+ C- N" ]) d- P( Z/ m) M" q- good oral and written Chinese and English skills8 y" X; I6 K- s) @
- experience in community work and immigrant services
