" m$ G$ [, L3 v& B p. e' uAfter I settled down in Edmonton, I celebrated Canada Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Remembrance Day. All of them arevery interesting to me, but I have to say that the most enjoyable holiday is Halloween.
! I' ] Q- D# ?My teacher told me I should prepare candies, and many children would come to my home and ask for them. So, I bought many candies from Zellers and Safeway. When I got back home with the candies, my wife told me that there were not enough, so I went to Safeway again and bought more.: p% ~4 u9 F1 }9 B4 j6 N( \
My child was shy and didn’t speak much English, so I taught her how to shout “Trick or Treat”. After two days of training, she is perfect at shouting “Trick or Treat” .
# W* {4 i' u& ]+ _# Y/ DOctober 31st is Halloween. I got up very early that day. My wife prepared chicken which I was going to bring to class for a potluck. My child was very happy because she had already been waitingfor this day for a long time.
$ v9 A3 j4 D" H+ BIn the afternoon, we had a potluck in the class. Yuong Sook, a Korean girl, made some sushi which looked very beautiful. Chun Yuan, a Chinese girl, cooked some bouilli which tasted very delicious. Of course my wife cooked the best food because they were all cleared off all gone.5 z' |5 t0 m( h: P5 P8 k6 H
After lunch, we had a party in the student center. Many students put make up on their faces and wore some strange clothingcostume. They were singing and dancing there. What a happy day!5 }4 [) O, D( k5 |, c
When we gothome, it turned dark. My child said, “Dad, may I go out and ask for candies?”
+ M4 y; t& C- Z“Yes. Why not?” I said.
" V% Y% m) Y9 z6 l4 z$ `1 NMy child went out with a bag. I stayed at homewith my wife, waiting for neighbours' kids. To my surprise, only three children came to my home, and I was left with many unclaimedcandies. And, one hour later, my child came back with a full bag. “Dad,” She said, “My bag is full. I have many candies now. What an interesting day!”
