The duties of the Operations Manager - SU Venues are diverse and

n/ F6 O9 K/ d) N2 j4 t2 R1 Wthe logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional
: B0 F9 A4 d9 W5 Y6 |venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that

2. Marketing and Promotion

9 l5 M: ^! p5 E) Ma. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that 3 B6 y% r4 |& w# L; J( n2 w
focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, - }3 S) |) X5 P/ i
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
7 `! ?, s4 Y9 p" ~3 rThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:8 A/ z4 \0 W- H2 Z
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz , J7 d8 k9 Z: I$ Z; n/ G# @! ]
Theatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to - R% _+ d2 V; P, i
take advantage of other internal and external advertising 6 f) S% B; {# J: T% \# T
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional
" \ W& @0 p3 A$ T [; Aliterature on an ongoing basis.2 ?/ c- a5 E; c9 L/ S4 [
· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.) b( {5 H6 m9 I6 ~; v; y' U
· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the

' m1 Q( W) T: N: n, f* t4 Z+ Y3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities

a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
# i% r, V" h; E5 b9 `effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the 9 s% }9 f( n& ^- Z
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and - a- t0 X3 B: x ? K: i
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
[% R% N1 H) ?the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited ( |; V, U) [5 }6 q; V9 e$ Q
to, the following:1 @9 A1 s; p; R# g# `( x
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues ( Z. T, r9 x' j% V
and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, ! k5 O( U B) f7 X
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.0 m4 L ^" k, y5 B0 t
To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
) {9 l" j6 h# n1 z% fall times, this includes the development and implementation of such
4 m9 z8 T- x/ n% W* {schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
, d d* C, e1 z) z2 ncost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it # Y5 S; ]* w1 \) ~
is in operation or needs to be in operation.
6 y; u: ~# f, E& e· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure " \& ~. M0 G# m: s
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to
7 t+ e& \ {$ K1 p9 L! P L3 ^8 [( Ufacilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
$ T+ N* Q* [1 \ D# v, v" Qrenters needs are met.
, k- ~: ~/ w; s. a. r· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills " ~) k: ^7 H1 K+ y) F1 n0 ^9 D% G
and attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of

· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure , f% q" R' G1 u

that additional requests such as licensed receptions are arranged.& Z% O- n& f# j! k2 T% ], j

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the

positive way to the smooth operation and success of the venues. This

To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate

Programming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets

Administration prior to their submission for final approval.
$ @4 E# P, `: U0 k# t& z& @9 l5 U' }· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively 3 F, q- r: w" `' n3 p2 b2 `
reflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and
' e3 T' V" _( @3 Ladministrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the

costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and 7 s# k" o+ B& i4 P3 w" k! k
setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for
% S0 j8 z4 d0 S' qevents held in the Horowitz Theatre.

: [! ?5 s# J: G* Uthe billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as

in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation, , s% D* `! q! F8 Q
pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, : a1 x7 [. a# X+ E; t) J
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary
/ ?3 H# ~) M2 F! L0 E. Lto ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and
8 E7 ^2 K+ \8 j7 Q3 i7 R8 N6 rfunctionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.

as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-

" L) G5 O3 x M· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to
4 O. M1 A7 m) u! f' Vdates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
( f5 Z; L# }+ K4 N- Q0 F· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and * e1 M& G6 D. j. x: I- `1 n, W
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.
# c- E$ \9 s" X$ t% j5 x1 v$ ~' s· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their
% a) v0 S8 s1 L: q" r Uparticular event in the venues.

1 `: s L; o1 m. d" Nsupporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the

· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
9 ^! k( ?4 {4 n4 b0 l9 Krental with consultation with the Technical Director.
0 I: c/ o; q) e- w7 v· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
2 ^4 j/ U p) {+ w, B& a& Q7 b) ~SU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately , R, d" a& l1 O8 {4 H6 T
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in
$ L$ p- x" i. Y5 t9 ?follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.
& z; R9 U1 g+ H9 Z* l9 Y To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately,
1 B% @# f8 r$ C' v% @# n. Oeffectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
4 r9 K1 {$ P( D' X |6 ]9 t; N9 }the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision

significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of

may provide such challenges and/or problems.
