X9 s' t1 i# i/ T, i8 ]Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

FUNCTIONS:
0 E! T5 b$ B# y/ D2 A1 q; q% l4 D• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
; R, x3 r E) p6 t+ ?! q, A• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
& k) @2 r% M) D$ v7 u0 A• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
9 V5 e! A4 y' K t; d• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
% }7 }5 x# l+ O" N8 {. r• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability ! t4 C2 C: z) }( \& S5 Y
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
/ H; x" k4 D$ ?6 s• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.) ] R N& K3 k* ?& v; A1 E( b# g
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) & ~2 i2 M" r" G" W
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
- p% b4 a4 n% P Y9 [• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
% l" [1 _% [" w$ A! h+ lvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training)./ B. b, i' O; I/ x$ B. T) Z. j
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
