This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.# j6 s& L W) B9 j( z

1 m' ]% z7 P+ e- D2 Q• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.- z7 I( c! Y d
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.3 e2 A% A9 ~7 {: V* N, c$ W
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.) D. O/ q9 _. n& q
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Adhere to schedules. [# `: n0 G5 k" I/ i9 Q
• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Handle diverse and challenging situations.+ y% E1 V3 N; V$ A
• Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
9 e7 D) z, D. Q# q$ W$ [• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.; y5 ^4 w0 W, |& j# m. t
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability - J+ [ p" l8 r! J. b8 w
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger % U6 l; j8 V8 p- h }3 i! g4 e

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).0 `. n& ^8 S! R( V
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.1 {2 [7 h! Y! N- F: J) n; t" u0 ^
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
; d$ e0 D+ e; f- G6 B; t• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
8 C0 A, H- E4 {showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
8 z9 y/ a. G5 Y9 @6 U, ?8 r• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
6 ?1 t6 i; q' i* V& }video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.6 C( L- K8 e, D

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week ! y; V9 {7 K& b: X
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
