Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.* z! y3 t9 {- F

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
, V4 S7 ^0 a6 s) R• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
0 o, Q j, h3 c; ~* E' k• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
0 L4 [' x4 P; }( _5 _8 C( j) C• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ! i6 _: K( _+ g; E

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.4 d) ~; y" t, ?; y& e( Q7 K. N
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

of the day.
k# b) |, T% N- F* M% t9 V• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).. K7 X1 T# D: J7 L
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
. K# `/ z! C" T' j• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
3 V, ~8 F$ v6 n1 u/ W( M• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) , }( A' y3 k" a5 p
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. , V b7 K( \3 _3 j" L
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
* `- U: d6 ^8 F' j" l8 N( Y8 Uvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
