JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Returning Officer reports to the President of
A- K$ R. ]; s Y. ]the Students' Union and oversees all electoral logistics as per Bylaw 7 R) v7 j; o3 r+ P/ y0 V5 l' j
2000. The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students' 2 `- X! J0 u8 ~" K% J0 G
Council in the manner set out in the Council Administration Committee

year following their appointment.

2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.# _- o: w, r' j5 B0 c' k. l- p

3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties., _0 a \8 v; z# q7 F7 _( R
1 ~2 e6 ~9 x6 N. b) i4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing
# ~4 q. J: I/ K. ?4 oadequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations
- N% y# d4 z7 T1 v$ vacross campus, and advertising the poll locations.

2 }8 f. y) h. [. _1 ]5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/

6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate

referendum.

To enforce budgetary regulations as stipulated in the Elections

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a
$ |' D( u+ ^- v) L r: |minimum of four (4) working hours a day, between Monday to Friday, ; \- D% Z9 M/ {, V. `
from the first working day after nominations close until the last day ' Z$ j# E" z+ V% j) _: W- ~. R# g
of voting. These hours are to be posted in advance.

11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during
& H# Y# H0 @6 R8 M# A* {the course of an election/referendum.+ l& \# j9 m' s; ~. P
8 ^" i+ v) T0 z" W12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting
! _. h1 A1 Z$ c' V* E8 Yprocess is in place.7 F( J: F* u9 f7 o. \% l+ v- N& Y
4 q) X( {5 I3 V13) To submit to Students' Council, prior to April 30, a final report

1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course , P- R0 C: I" @) g, f e9 T
for each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students' 5 `- O9 R0 Y+ o' Q8 g

; t# @" Z1 y$ e- M* B0 h$ c& S6 X5 T2) Must have some experience in student elections.7 s; M5 D& m& K* _# J) ]$ m Q

3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or
6 f. j: p. o, |; X4 S' kany of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position
/ i. e' I1 w! n" ]/ ~& Cwith the Students' Union.
