society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth

  z. n2 v- F  b' d& G$ vages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
' M0 O8 ~+ [; z- Lorganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
( d; r4 e0 l2 fsustainable communities.

3 E& ?; E0 S2 }7 a* jPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
6 L, x3 `: `+ [1 L: E+ knon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
: O9 D; h4 z8 o7 @$ Mvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
' U& [, O2 U* E6 v0 Wmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
% W) m/ l  b: H* ufor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.
: ?; A# @0 X2 E6 ^7 [+ n& D) m, B) t
PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
2 l2 b; Y( G( f) `) uas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
+ r1 ~/ i# t! _) r% pservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

" t, m4 c+ z- WIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
5 O& a4 Y, Y) t: B9 hdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
! x; W( L. c8 g/ o4 e  ^: v  `. k% Qpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

7 U0 A$ u7 W2 [% l& iKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
9 G/ E. u9 a: Hwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
+ p7 [! V& i: J% Ymanaging projects and budgets.

! H+ c: l- l: p& B% O, S3 mPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
