The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
, C; a) F' Z6 Z7 J& H) Jand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
. v5 P" t# c3 _9 N2 knon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
& h, [$ P! a+ K& `' y+ d: g( }policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

  {- V! J- ?. n; R" x- e% DPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
) ^2 c& ^, R% K4 `& `6 hvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

1 `% M- S* u; l8 RPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
. ]6 b7 E8 m: v- a0 x3 O, v* Aas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

3 U* [2 |4 B0 d8 l  J7 J3 V3 [, wIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
0 |$ e2 O+ o# {6 Q6 npayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

  `( K  M& Y" E6 _) s* S  NKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
) Y& c+ Z1 z* h0 |2 R1 {6 D8 bwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
( W/ L* ]" n2 ~+ Sprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
; \# B; j( {; _1 E8 nproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
